SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Until 1781, there were only five other planets known in our solar system.  After several improvements to the telescope after nearly 170 years, the technology was able to discover another massive object orbiting our sun.  However, mathematicians and astronomers noted that there was still something strange about the new planet.  Nearly 60 years later, a pencil-drawn calculation predicted the location of another as-yet unknown world.

On weather permitting Friday nights, join the planetarium staff after the show in looking up at the night sky (no ticket necessary). If you come at the right time, the International Space Station or a satellite may just appear above your head.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

While this is a live, interactive program, it is intended to educate as well as entertain audiences of ages 6 and up.  The lights will dim and a simulated night sky will be projected onto our 24-foot dome.  Each day's topics are similar but it is not scripted, so the program may be slightly different each time!

Please note that the planetarium will be completely darkened at times so please take that into account with children.
